Sound the depth before you commit the money.

A lodline is the weighted cord a navigator drops to learn what is actually under the hull. That is the whole method here: measure the matter, price it, put a date on it — and only then decide whether it is worth doing.

Every mandate is a descent with marked stops.

You always know which stop you are at, what it costs, and what leaving now would mean. Nothing is billed before the second mark.

First contact

One sentence from you. A call inside 24 hours, or straight to a written note if that is faster. Nothing signed, nothing billed.

Preliminary position

One page: what this actually is, the likely range of outcomes, roughly what it costs, and whether we think it is worth pursuing at all. Sometimes the honest answer is that it is not.

Scope and price

A proposal with a fixed price where scope can be drawn, or an hourly rate with a ceiling where it cannot. Named partner, named analyst, named project manager, named delivery date.

The work

Reporting on the schedule written into the engagement letter, not on request. If the seabed turns out to be different from the sounding, you hear it the same week — with a revised number, not a revised excuse.

Outcome

A closing note with the numbers: what was recovered, what was avoided, what it cost. Plus one recommendation for the next twelve months. No upsell in that letter.

Retainer offered separately, if you want it

Four Swedish regimes changed inside twelve months.

Each of them has a date attached. Most of the Swedish material online was written before those dates, which is why we date and re-check everything we publish.

A rebuilt bankruptcy procedure

The district court now only opens the case and appoints the trustee. The trustee runs the proof-of-debt process; Kronofogden approves the trustee's fee and the distribution. Far fewer courts hear these cases. The procedure became more closed and the trustee became decisive — which changes how a creditor should behave in week one.

Cyber security act — cybersäkerhetslagen (2025:1506)

Sweden's NIS2 implementation. Registration with MSB closes on 30 September 2026 and essential entities must be compliant by 31 December. Management responsibility is personal, and supplier chains are inside the perimeter.

Investment screening, third year and widening

Notification to ISP is mandatory across a broad range of transactions, including deals by Swedish and EU investors. Only third-country investments can actually be prohibited. The list of protected activities is being extended.

Stockholm arbitration at a record, construction fastest of all

57 construction disputes in 2025 against 28 the year before and 11 in 2023. The expedited rules now carry materially larger claims after the threshold moved to €1m — which changes which rules you should be choosing at drafting stage.

The Unified Patent Court's only regional division sits in Stockholm

The Nordic-Baltic regional division covers Sweden, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, hears cases in English, and sits in the Stockholm District Court building with hearing venues in Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius. Small caseload, unusual leverage.

Soundings, at a fixed price.

These are the products people actually start with. Each one is a measurement: it tells you whether the deeper work is worth commissioning, and it is priced before you order it.

Where scope cannot be drawn, we work hourly with a ceiling written into the engagement letter: partner 4 900 SEK · senior lawyer 3 600 SEK · lawyer 2 400 SEK · financial analyst 3 200 SEK · project manager 1 900 SEK. Retainers from 45 000 SEK per month; external head of legal from 175 000 SEK per month.

Nineteen people, four disciplines on every file.

Lawyers take the position. Analysts price it. Project managers hold the date. A partner signs anything that leaves the firm.
